Discussion on Guibert of Nogent Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Discussion on Guibert of Nogent - Essay Example...but when reason returns, I repent that I have yielded to the lust of my heart when my soul with unwilling oppressiveness sinks on a dunghill for its bed (Bland, 1).There is a deep seated desire to know the will of God and to know him, rather the somebody should empty himself and come to know his Creator. Reading through the monks memoirs, he sees that the culture around him is submerged in wealth and sin. And all that learning is of no recitation it the person does not open his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. ...Unless Christ shall open to him the doors of learning with the key of knowledge, without doubt every teacher shall spend himself in vain on dull ears. Therefore, let every wise man be foolish to claim anything as his own but sin (Bland 2).Everything is associated with the beatified feasts and the days they fall on as a symbol of some divine meaning of why things occurred. Now the feast of the Blessed Martin was close at han d, in fact the next day (Bland 14).A person suffers a fate or misfortune because divine intervention has decided to punish the individualist for his or her wrong doings-the man who tries to please a treacherous foe in fear of being bitten, by the just judgment of heaven gets legal injury by him and everyone else (Bland 14). Heavens decision in the matter is seen as fair and just. The air of Christianity is soaked to the brim with guilt and punishment, justice and retribution although in that location are numerous times in Guiberts writings where he mentions the mercies of the Lord and his mothers help in our daily lives. The prevailing feature of Christianity in Guiberts time as Guibert saw them was each a person knew the Christian faith and lived by its rules or they didnt and hence committed sacrilegious acts by their very nature of being ignorant in matters of what constitutes as holy and requiring reverence. And since such words may not be uttered by a Christians lips, and mu st cause pious ears to shudder with detestation, we exterminate them. Although he praised the Jews , by the Jews he was regarded as a madman and whilst approving their religion in word, he actually practiced ours (Bland 16). Even profanity was considered as intolerable to ears that were sensitive to them and considered such speech as not characteristic with the Christian faith and contrary to the Christian life. And when man could not do untold to intervene or stop the particular person from carrying on with their blasphemies, we see through Guibert that heaven itself takes care of the problem When the Virgin Mother, Queen of all, could no womb-to-tomb endure the blasphemies of this corrupt man, as he was entering from a royal expedition, on approaching the city, there appeared a great band of his friends the devils and he approach path home with his hair disordered and out of his wits, repulsed his wife and lay with that old woman and that night fell ill of a mortal disease (Bl and 17).Furthermore, there resounds in the 1100s the echo of what apricot is to the individual, the abbot asks us to be more concerned with the beauty of the soul than the appearance of the body. Bland depicts how Guibert of Nogent asks God to infuse beauty with

Music and Gender Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Music and Gender - Essay ExampleMusic as a popular culture has the author to influence almost anyone. In hip-hop music, male dominance is a powerful tool, that appears to make the female entity more or less an object of fascination. unmatched take on the subject of patriarchal power is defined by Bell Hooks in the following excerpt The awakeist, patriarchal ways of sentiment and behaving that are glorified in gangsta rap are a reflection of the prevailing values in our society, values created and sustained by white supremacist competitive patriarchy.(M.Dot, 2008). The essay written by pseudonym writer M.Dot relates how black hip-hop music tends to follow the white suprematist ideals that men are above and beyond women and for that reason fire be seen as objects of mens fantasy rather than having a voice and meaning of their own. The figures of Condoleza Rice and Hillary Clinton are thorns in the flesh of those trying desperately to preserve their place as masculine hegemonous figures. Two reasons for this may arise and one of which may be pure speculation but is however a reasoned reason. In Hip Hop and Rap, both music musical styles make the women predominantly into boodies and boobs, crudely arranging them with very little if any mental capacity. Sean Kingston latterly released the album with the single Beautiful Girl where the featured girl was seen merely as a gold-digger looking for a meal ticket in the take a hop of a man. You know youll never work, denotes that because of her beauty she will never have to support herself, further making the man the power image to ply for the woman. 3. Liberal and radical feminism are quite obviously anti-patriarchal power. Country music exemplifies the ideals of the romantic cowboy sweeping the lady-love off her feet on his glittering steed. The hegemony displayed in this genre of music plays up the romantic ideal of masculinity, not the reality. Since women are believed to factor centrally in human social re lations, the male psyche seeks to accessory women, and thus sustain the illusion of male centrality.(Robinson, 2006 46). Robinson writes about the fact that in order to make the male the controller, the woman must make herself the controlled (Ibid). This makes for entertaining although unrealistic visions of societal norms. In a sense the modern hip-hop and gansta-rap as urban phenomena, are trying to reinforce something that is being contested, while the rural excite country music is still hanging onto the romanticised idealism of when men were cowboys. It depends however very much n who is listening to the music.4. Constantine hip-hop has had rather a pestiferous image, being largely directed by sex in all its designs. It is by far the more popular of the hip-hop styles and centers around the inadequacies of femininity and tries to form the perception that women are all tending towards prostitution. One feminist website describes Constantine hip-hop as focussing on women, and black women in particular as sex objects with the cameras focussing on gyrating body parts (Ayanna, 2008). In this case we are talking Puff-Daddy and Snoop-Dogg rather than the more genteel Sean Kingston. Prophetic hip-hop is a genre more directed towards the future of the world. It often places great emphasis on the doom of modern society, painful break-ups and

E-business and Value Chain Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

E-business and Value Chain - Essay ExampleThis paper explains the firms e-business practices and the weaknesses in achieving full potential, giving recommendations on necessary improvements. Introduction Use of Radio Frequency Identification, RFID enabled FedEx transform the express delivery business and particularly its render chain. Typically, a tract would be picked by a FedEx agent and scanned then passed into the system bearing a incomparable identification number. This would then be interpreted to the sorting area or hub using a truck with other similar packages. The sorting centres would normally be over two football palm long with between 500 and 1,000 workers. Here, the packages would be sorted using conveyor belts system with a remote sensor. The multidimensional scanner would get the dimensions of the cargo including the length, height, comprehensiveness and also the weight of the packages for the determination of not only their sizes, but also the shipping cost. The scanner would read the barcodes on the package then paddles nudge the scanned package onto different belts based on their destination. Nonetheless, some packages could be sorted manually. Finally, the packages would be placed in boxes shaped in a expression to ensure uttermost efficiency in space utilisation in the plane. FedEx has a control centre that coordinates truck movements while still monitoring airplane and airport conditions. On reaching its destination, FedEx courier hand delivers the package, scanning it again so as to complete the transaction (FedEx 2012). RFID technology enhanced FedExs supply chain efficiencies. Q.1 The provide of the profit at FedEx FedEx was the first express delivery comp whatever to adopt e-business capabilities in its operations by availing package shipment information to its customers over the Internet (Hemmatfar, Salehi & Bayat 2010). The Internet defined the opportunity for attaining competitive advantage for those businesses that adopted t he technology in their business operations. Business Ethics vs. Success in Modern Business Paper 2 Research

seam Ethics vs. Success in Modern Business 2 - Research Paper ExampleEthics in business is a descriptive as well as a normative field. Nevertheless, researchers exploring matters associate to the business and ethics are always concerned about one issue. While studying the business and ethics, to what extent are the just and the unjust attitudes in the business are explored? (Tseng et al., 2010).Good ethics is not necessarily good business. The contemporary firms in the USA and the UK are quite worried about their physical body in the corporate world and the way they are talked about by the people. It is because of this concern that a vast majority of the current economic scandals that are either linked with the corrupt behaviors or the illegal actions have conventionally ruined the public image and thus the value of the firms involved. Nevertheless, more needs to be through in order to make the contemporary firms refrain from the fraud than just forming new laws and regulations. Employees need to make themselves completely aware of the potential ways in which their firms image and future can be ruined by the influence of corruption. It is not compulsory that corruption exists in every department of a ill-tempered firm. Enron provides a good example for that. Enrons management was involved in corrupt activities but Enrons employees always criticized the managers activities and condemned them. The real problem commenced after everybody had given up up trying to identify a solid definition of the values (Wieland, 2010). The workers association with the firm would definitely improve with the positive energy that is generated by having a suitable space for the functioning of the firm. The improved loyalty would reflect in the increased productivity of the workers. When a firm is caught in the acts of corruption, there needs to be done something in order to safeguard the reputation and hence the future of the firm. There are businessmen that tend to

Dexter Morgen- Vigilante Serial Killer Essay Example for Free

Dexter Morgen- Vigilante Serial Killer EssayTo those who disagree with the stance of fictional watchfully heroes such as Dexter Morgan, in effort to convince them that the vigilantes actions have earned societys full support, the offenses commonly lain against them will be disproved and a new perspective will be given to support them. Dexter is a serial killer in Miami, FL from Dexter, a series on starting line however Dexter only kills murderers. Dexter is considered a felon and his actions are a capitol offense. Many would consider that grounds for Dexter to be thrown into jail, or even face death-row. But look at all the murder we allow and encourage today. Our military is trained to kill Americas enemies. While not everyone approves of contend and while no one enjoys it, warfare is a part of our past and will be a part of our future. If nothing else, war must be accepted. Killing has gone on since the beginning of hu humankind history- whether that is Cain and Able, or th e war between Sumer and Elam.Who gets to decide who is an enemy of America? The obvious answer is coition. But Congress is a group of elected officials here to serve its people. Our government of the people, by the people, and for the people is created for us. So ultimately we decide who our enemies are. We the people decided who we go to war with- who we kill. How do we decide who is an enemy of America? There are many acceptable answers such as any one who threatens our interests, any one who disagrees with our laws, or any one who attacks our country. September 11, 2001 a terrorist organization known as Al-Qaeda attacked America by sending planes through the World Trade Centers in New York and the Pentagon in Virginia. Al-Qaeda unjustly killed 3,000 Ameri sewers and Ameri thrones justly kill people like this every day.If killing and war are accepted responses to threats posed against the bureau we live, then who makes the distinction between what killing is just and when killin g is necessary. The answer is simple- the law. This topic no longer becomes a moral incommode but an issue of law. If Dexter, like our troops over seas, is killing murders then morally Dexter has support. But not full support- not support from the law. There is no logical argument murder is against the law, but there are no doubt exceptions. The military is a great example of citizens who, by our laws, can kill. These men are licitly allowed to, or pass, to kill. These are the citizens who kill murders that have or will murder Americans if given the chance. These murderers exist not only over seas, but also in America- killing 16,000 Americans annually. The court system will do the best they to capture them, but what happens when they fail? When citizens stand up against a crook, murderer, or rapist, the punishment lies with the man who rid the world of the injustice the man that can not let injustice stand is the man that the law says is out of hand. Why should the rock-steady b e punished? Murder is usually considered an act of hotness. Its usually a one time thing which is why most murderers dont get the death penalty. However, certain acts of passion fit the bill on who should get killed in the electric chair. A man who rapes and murderers victims deserves a much more severe punishment than the man who separatrix that felon. Most wouldnt mind that the rapist was killed and most would believe that the man who shot the rapist had a good mind to do it. If these actions were perfectly legal, it would spark a movement. A movement that would result in the death or thousand of people who believe they are capable of killing felons too. A movement begun with the good intention of cleaning up our streets that will end with them covered in blood. Civilians should not be encouraged to fight crime. But just like policemen and detectives, with cooking they can. A license to kill these murderers is the best weapon against them. A process should be set in place to all ow for this. When the system fails, these licensed killers can put to rest those who murder. Dexter must find proof of the murderers guilt. It is part of his code. A set of rules made for what person he can kill. Dexter can only kill someone who is a murder, for no condonable reason. If Dexter finds this proof, he is free to kill. Why not make the code the description for who a licensed killer can kill? This will lower the rates of overall death tolls and will stop other murderers who kill for a morally incorrectly reason or for none at all. If Dexter can kill legally, he has then earned all the support he contends. Dexter doesnt need to be famous, he doesnt need to have to world accept him, he just needs understanding. He has urges to kill, so why not practice session them for good? Dexters dark side could be used to created a brighter world, because there can be no light without the dark. If Dexter could be given a license to kill, we all would be in a safer place.
